Nutrition Services

One of the benefits of being a part of a Family Health Team like Village FHT, is the multi-disciplinary team approach we take. Your health is more than just your diagnosis; it’s managing all parts of you mentally, physically, and emotionally. Prevention and management of health conditions is a crucial part of staying healthy and happy as an individual.

At Village FHT, we are proud to offer you an opportunity to speak to a Registered Dietitian (RD). Dietitians are trained nutritionists, that can help you with habits, patterns and lifestyle choices that may be affecting your health in a negative way. They can support you with assessing and strategizing with you to make the best nutrition and lifestyle choices that relate to you specifically.

Meeting with the dietitian can help you see clearly what you are doing that is working, and what needs work, getting you closer to your health and lifestyle goals.

Our Registered Dietitian can help you with managing existing health issues and optimizing health for:

Conditions affecting your heart such as: high Cholesterol / Diabetes / High Blood Pressure

Gastrointestinal Conditions (Reflux, IBS, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Celiac Disease, Food intolerances)

Mental Health conditions such as Eating well to support Anxiety, Depression, Management of Eating Disorders, eating well as a Vegetarian • Learning how to read food labels / Choosing healthier options on a limited income or eating on the run. Our dietitian is also trained to help you during pregnancy, and with infant and childhood nutrition issues.

Your first appointment is an initial consultation with the dietitian where all factors impacting your health are reviewed; diet, medications, medical history, psychosocial and lifestyle factors. This will help the dietitian better understand your needs, which then allows the dietitian to make recommendations and collaborate with you to design an eating plan that matches your goals. An emphasis is placed on healthy eating habits and lifestyle changes that you can follow to protect and support your health long-term.

Follow-up appointments can be booked based on monitoring needs, and your dietitian can discuss this with you individually. Please ask your healthcare provider for a dietitian referral if you are interested and are registered as a patient at Village FHT.

Patients with private insurance and/or health benefits for nutrition and dietitian support should be seen privately, so we can offer nutritionist services to those who are most at risk and in need.
