 Visiting Our Clinic

People with any of the following symptoms please  disclose symptoms when scheduling and at reception so we can move you to an exam room to wait for your appointment.

  • Sore throat
  • Headache
  • Fever or chills
  • New cough
  • Trouble breathing
  • Decrease or loss of taste or smell
  • Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea (< 18years)
  • Very tired, sore muscles or joints (18+ years)
  •  Close contact in the last 10 days with someone that is COVID positive.

We are aware of the increased community incidence of measles and its increased presence on the news and social media recently. You may be wondering if you should receive a measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) booster.

The current recommendations from Public Health Ontario are as follows:

    • Infants under 6 months: no vaccination recommended
    • Infants 6-11 months: one dose of MMR may be given if there are plans to travel outside Canada. This is outside of routine vaccination schedule and infants will still require a booster after 12 months and then again at 4-6 years of age.
    • Children between 12 months to 18 years of age: should have received x2 doses of the MMR vaccine as part of their routine immunization schedule (@ 12 months then again between 4-6 months). *If planning on travelling outside Canada and are under 4 years of age, it is recommended that you receive your second dose before travel.
    • If you are born before 1970 you are considered to have natural immunity (meaning immunity from community transmission and not vaccination) however you are eligible for one MMR booster.
    • If you are born after 1970 you are eligible to receive a total of 2 doses, most individuals have received at least one with routine vaccination.

What if I do not know my vaccination status?

    • You can reach out to our clinic as we may have record of your vaccination history.
    • If we do not have record of your vaccination history and your immunity is unknown, you are eligible for one MMR booster.

If you are travelling outside of Canada we encourage you to follow up with a travel clinic as they may have their own supply of MMR vaccines (our clinic has limited supply). Travel clinics also provide additional guidance about other vaccines or protocols necessary to travel to your chosen destination.

Get Checked for Cancer

Organized screening programs may find cancer earlier, leading to better health outcomes. Cancer screening detects pre-cancerous changes, or cancer at an early stage when there is a better chance of treating it successfully. Screening is for people who do not have any cancer symptoms.

Breast

Regular breast cancer screening can find cancer when it is small and there is a better chance of treating it successfully. To learn more and schedule a mammo

Cervical

Cervical cancer is almost entirely preventable with regular screening, appropriate and timely follow-up of abnormal Pap test results and human papillomavirus (HPV) immunization. Book an appointment with Village FHT.

Colorectal

When colorectal cancer is caught early enough through screening, someone with the disease has a 9 out of 10 chance of being cured. Talk to a member of our team or click here to learn more about screening options :
